It was a quick-and-dirty solution — functional, but not exactly beautiful. About six months ago, we started experimenting with Wix, hoping for a more polished look. But then we got lucky: the sketchy site that owned ipyum.com let the domain expire, and we managed to register it. Perfect timing. We now have three domains — ipyum.com, ipyum.id, and ipyum.co.id — but going forward, everything will point to ipyum.com. Last week, we stumbled across a video from Google explaining that Wix is best for professional designers, while Squarespace is often better for DIY creators. That’s when it clicked — we were using the wrong tool. We immediately signed up for Squarespace, started the domain transfer, and haven’t looked back. It’s already a huge improvement. The design feels clean and intuitive, and while we still have plenty of content to migrate (especially blog posts), it’s exciting to finally feel at home on the web. The swirl and the name now work in harmony — the new slanted, cursive font adds character and movement, while a higher-contrast color scheme improves readability. We even ran the design through an AI-powered logo scoring tool and were pleasantly surprised: 100 for uniqueness 100 for legibility 69 for contrast Overall score: 89 It looks great across formats — including in round profile icons and social media circles — and feels like a better reflection of who we are: creative, grounded, and a little off the beaten path. Progress has been slower than we hoped, mostly because we’re building this dream out of pocket, step by step. Early on, we imagined a fairly high-end experience from the start. But the reality of building on a remote island — with limited funding and infinite logistics — has taught us to be more flexible. So, this Christmas, we’ve made a pivot. We’re now building four simple, elegant beach huts — easier and faster to complete — so we can begin hosting guests sooner. We’ve also postponed building our central “Home” space, and will instead create a welcoming shared dining area right on the beach, using our Camp kitchen for now.
